TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

The Thessalonians were enduring persecutions and trials because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Despite this, their faith and love grew more and more for the Lord, for each other, and for lost humanity. Our Bible passage for today is written by the Apostle Paul as an encouragement to this church.

First, he lets them know that their trials are an indication that God’s judgment is accurate; Jesus predicted that men would revile and persecute the Church. Second, Paul encourages them by letting them know that their tribulations are making them worthy for the Kingdom of God. Third, Paul encourages this church by letting them know that a judgment day is coming.

God will pay back with judgment all who trouble God’s children. Make no mistake about it…Jesus is coming back in a blazing fire to encourage and save all His children who are troubled and oppressed. With this in mind, live faithfully so you will be comforted and not surprised and ashamed on that day.

“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.” (2 Thessalonians 1:3-7)
