BELIEVERS SHOULD BE BAPTIZED

Matthew 28:19-20

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Discover It

Baptism is a significant step of obedience in the life of a believer. In the Baptist tradition and in the Bible, baptism the public profession of your faith in Jesus Christ. And even members of other denominations that practice infant baptism sometimes want to experience being baptized as believers. They sense that the Lord wants them to take a public stand for their faith. We extend the invitation to be baptized as believers to all Christ-followers! It is a public declaration of a believer’s commitment to follow Jesus, symbolizing the death of the old self and the resurrection to new life in Christ.

Ask It

1. Why do you think Jesus commanded His disciples to baptize new believers?

2. How does baptism symbolize our relationship with Jesus?

3. Have you ever witnessed a baptism? What was it like, and how did it impact your understanding of faith?

4. What does it mean to publicly declare your faith through baptism? How might this encourage others in their faith journey?

Live It

1. Discuss with others the significance of baptism in your own lives. If someone in your family has been baptized, take a moment to share their testimony. For those who haven't been baptized, discuss what it means to make that decision and how it reflects a personal commitment to Christ.

2. Encourage each of your friends and family to reflect on their own walk with God. If someone feels ready to take the step of baptism, pray together, and discuss the next steps with your church.

3. Remember, baptism is not just a ritual; it’s a powerful act of obedience that signifies a deep, personal transformation and identification with Christ.

Pray It

"Oh Lord of physical and spiritual life, we thank You for the gift of salvation and the opportunity to publicly declare our faith through baptism. Help us to understand the significance of this step of obedience and to live our lives as a reflection of the new life we have in Christ. And may baptism be only a first step as we boldly live out our faith before our family, friends, and the world. Help us all to encourage one another to grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."
